Have a great wine to welcome 2007

I have a count down party for 2006 and a celebration to welcome 2007. A friend brought a bottle of Chateau Cablanc Bordeaux. This bottle is in the year 2001. I was ask to let it breathe a little and serve it after 45mins. As I pour out the red wine, you can see its charming red ruby colour on your wine glass. As I swirl the wine class in circular motion, and put my nose deep down, I enjoyed the marvellous fruity smell of red cherries and strawberries. I like this red wine aroma. A sip into the mouth and let it rest, you will find the taste wonderful with its riches of the fruits and spices. In the mouth it is charming and ample and has a supple tannins. It also has low acidity and swallow as its go down.

Some of you may wonder what make up this great wine. Yes it has a mixture of 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. This is a French Wine from the hillsides of the commune of Saint-Pey de-Castets in the Entre-Deux-Mers region.

Most of my friend fine this wine good to drink and they all like to have more. I really must thank Calvin for bring this wine over and share with all of us. Cheers and lets toss towards a wonderful 2007. Happy New Year Singapore and Happy New Year to all Wine Lovers!!!

The Way Lady Select Wine Is Different From Man

To some, we may think that wine appreciation is more of a man passion. However, do you know that half of the wine is bought by women? I was reading this article and it mentioned that a woman select a bottle of wine by looking at the wine bottle label rather than anything else. Most women will just grab the bottle of wine if it has a nice label or its name is interesting. The look of the wine bottle and the label become very important to some wine yard who wish to target this group of buyers. Some even come out with unique name and attractive labels to catch the women attention so that they will buy the wine.

I am not surprised reading this, as being a women, I sometimes also act in the same manner. Definitely, you will only note what is worth drinking and write off those that are tasteless. You will be surprise that choosing some of these wines in this way, you may get to taste some pretty good wine too.

On the other hand, most men buy a bottle of wine looking beyond the wine label. They will ask for more information and help to select a good bottle of wine.

Another technology breakthrough is the wine bottle vacuum sealer. This vacuum sealer has a battery operated pump in which it will automatically removes the air in the wine bottle. With the air removed, it makes preserving the contents of a partially consumed bottle of wine much easier.

All you need to do is to place the vacuum sealer to the neck of the bottle, guide over the inserted sure-seal stopper, push down slowly and gently and the battery operated pump will automatically removes the air that breaks down the wine flavor. No more exhausting pumping up-and-down is required!

Get a Cork Jet Pump as a Christmas Gift

Christmas is coming and it is very likely to open a few bottles of red wine or white wine during this season. The thought of opening a wine bottle may have reminded how tedious you did it the last time. What if I tell you that you could now do so without putting much effort to twist and turn the cork trying to get the cork out the next time you appreciate another bottle of wine.

Do you need a wine rack

For those who just started wine appreciation will wonder if it is necessary to have a wine rack. At least that was what I ponder when I first started to buy and stocking up some wine. Initially I thought that well, I am not a serious drinker why should I spend on a wine rack? So I started off just keeping whatever I buy in the carboard. I regreted it when I discovered my wine loss its taste due to poor storage.

For tips on what wine rack to get, you may enter here to read this article for more information.

American Prefer Cheap Wine

I am not really surprised to read about a survey based on industry sources from hundreds of interview with restaurants, distributors, importers and wineries throughout the United States release their findings that Americans prefer cheap and fun wines.

In the United States, drinking a glass of wine or two at the end of the day can be common especially in a cold night. So, unless you are prepared to spend a fortune on wine, it just make sense that wine is just a normal beverage. Thus, their choice of cheap and fun wine is very possible.

However, in Asia, wine drinking is getting popular, but to have a glass everyday is still something not many people do. Most will open a bottle on occassions or with friends, so our drinking pattern are different.

What is Harvey Bristol Cream Sherry Wine

Harvey Bristol Cream Sherry is the original cream Sherry from the Jerez region of Spain. Harvey have produced the finest Sherry since 1796 and has grown to become the largest Sherry producer. Harveys is owned by the huge British firm Allied Lyons and produces a huge range of moderately priced sherries. Harvey Bristol Cream is a unique Sherry Wine that has very distinctive character as a result of the skiful blending of Jerez’s finest Sherry wines: delicate, dry Finos, nutty old Amontillados, fragrant Olorosos and rare, sweet Pedro Ximenez. Unchanged over 200 years, it is still the world favourite and best selling Sherry. These three blend of Sherry types are all created from the Palomino grape that are then sweeten with Pedro Ximénez wine.

This cream Sherry wine has a alcohol content of 20%-22%. It is best served at around 13 degree celcius or if you like it less sweet, you can serve it on the rocks. This should be served as an aperitif, as an after-dinner drink and it taste a bit rasins and roasted nuts, full in body and with a subtly spicy finish.

Another unique feature of this wine is its blue bottle. This was introduced in 1996 to mark Harveys 200th anniversary. The term "Bristol Blue" arose from the fact that Bristol was the point of supply for the coloring agent, Saxon cobalt oxide (smalt), which produced the wonderful, deep blue.
